In 1993, I took the chance of a lifetime and left my native Spain to help open Jaleo, a new Spanish tapas bar in Washington, DC. 19 years later, Jaleo remains at the heart of what my partner Rob Wilder, and I have accomplished. Together we established ThinkFoodGroup, the team behind our 16 US based restaurants ranging in concepts from Spanish, Mexican, Greek, and Chinese. We have had unique opportunities to expand our presence with restaurants now in Los Angeles, Las Vegas, Miami and Puerto Rico. I hope you’ll visit us some day!

Jaleo Tapas Bar

With 3 locations in the Washington, DC area as well as at the Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas, Jaleo is José Andrés’ award winning tapas bar offering the authentic taste of Spain from its extensive menu of 60 plus tapas. Jaleo, which means “revelry” and “merry making” serves traditional paella and grilled meats and seafood alongside traditional and modern tapas.

Taking its name from the Turkish word for “olive oil”, this Washington hot spot is the sleek home of classic and contemporary Mediterranean cuisine. Focused on the foods of Greece, Turkey and Lebanon, the small plates, or “mezze,” are meant to be shared along with a wide array of wines from this region that are sure to surprise and delight.

America Eats Tavern

A collaboration with the National Archives, America Eats Tavern is the extension of the exhibit “What’s cooking Uncle Sam”. The only restaurant of its kind, America Eats Tavern is a “benefit” destination in support of the National Archives Experience exhibition program. With recipes and stories collected through extensive research, and with help from the National Archives and a culinary advisory council of chefs and scholars, the menu showcases the fascinating history of the United States one plate at a time

China Poblano

SLS Hotel South Beach

Following the success of The Bazaar at the SLS Hotel in Beverly Hills, José Andrés will be opening his second Bazaar outpost at the SLS Hotel South Beach slated to open in March 2012.


Dorado Beach, a Ritz-Carlton Reserve

In an exciting new partnership with the Ritz-Carlton Company, award winning chef José Andrés will open in Dorado Beach, Puerto Rico at the new ultra luxury Ritz Carlton Reserve slated to open in December 2012. Dorado Beach will be the first Ritz Carlton Reserve in the Americas and Jose´s first restaurant outside the continental United States.
