World famous for its citrus, this region is also the home of paella, Spain’s national dish. Here the local short-grain bomba rice comes together with the seafood from the long stretch of coastline, as well as with vegetables and chicken to create a true taste of Spain. The almond trees and bee hives that dot the land also come together to create another taste of Valencia, the wonderful turron, a nougat made from almonds and honey. Later this year, we will visit this region to learn about the sweet clementines, oranges, turron and of course, rices, that make this region so special.
